New Zealand government today has issued a law, forcing the retailers to only import bulbs that meet new efficiency standards or face fines of up to $10,000 as of October 2009.

The ultimate goal is to reduce the energy consumption of New Zealand by 20% (!) by 2015.

–WOW– to be honest, I am not sure we have firms like this in Canada, but the Vigeo Group are, in essence, THE Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) police in France.

I think that the BIG question is that: What would it take to persuade people in developing countries to acknowledge the importance of sustainable development?
