Here’s a great SD supporting program by the federal goverment of Canada: ecoAUTO Rebate Program.
If one purchases or leases a new FUEL-EFFICIENT vehicle that’s on the list of eligible vehicles, including 2006, 2007 and 2008 model year vehicles, between March 20, 2007 and December 31, 2008, the federal government of Canada provides a nice rebate ($1,000-$2,000).
Which vehicles get rebates?
“New cars getting 6.5 L/100km or better and new light trucks getting 8.3 L/100km or better. The list features hybrid electric and highly energy efficient vehicles. In addition, new flexible-fuel vehicles with combined fuel consumption E85 ratings of 13.0 L/100km or less will be eligible.”
The full list can be found here.
On a personal note, my ex-wife has just bought a brand new Civic and she got her $1,000 back=).
Great initative, I think.
