A new clean and slow burning charcoal that is created in the village is helping to heat the homes and cook the meals of the local villagers. The best thing about this is that the village women are ‘manufacturing’ the charcoal briquettes themselves. To manufacture the charcoal, rather than cut down trees, they are using non -indigenous weeds ( known as the forest killer for its ability to smother the other forest vegetation) that are considered pests in the forest. By using these weeds, they are actually helping the indigenous plants to recover.
